Better Letter
A newsletter platform where the writer owns the entire stack: the CMS, the list, the domain, and the payment relationship. We charge a flat fee. We never take a percentage, because we never touch the money.
Who it's for
Writers tired of paying rent on their own audience.
Newsletter writers with real subscriber bases who've done the math on a permanent 10% platform tax, and anyone who has watched a platform hold a domain, a list, or a back catalogue hostage during an export. Ownership isn't a feature tier here. It's the starting condition.
Mechanism
Owning the stack, not renting it
- Your own CMS, deployed in minutes.
A fully self-owned Ghost instance, provisioned automatically: hosting, CDN, email delivery, and version-controlled backups included. No DevOps required.
- Your readers pay you directly.
Bring your own payment gateway: subscriptions run through the writer's own Stripe account. Revenue never routes through Better Letter, so there is no cut to take.
- Your list and content stay portable.
Everything lives in accounts you control, backed up to your own repository. Leaving is an export away, which is exactly why you won't be forced to.
- Flat fee, stated plainly.
A monthly price, not a percentage. A writer earning more never owes more.
The guarantee
A platform can only hold your revenue hostage if it sits between you and your readers. Better Letter is architected out of that position: the money moves from reader to writer with no intermediary account to freeze, tax, or renegotiate.
